Using the power of communications to make a better world

At BT, our annual Better Future Report shows our commitment to putting responsible and sustainable business at the heart of the way we work. The report demonstrates good progress towards our ambitious 2020 goals and shows how BT’s £27.2m investment goes beyond driving sustainable business practices in our own operations to recognising the broader value we can deliver to society.

Our programme for delivering our Better Future strategy has three focus areas, each with its own vision and ambitious goal to achieve by the end of 2020.

Connected Society

We have a vision for a Connected Society; to help improve society globally through the power of digital connections.  Our goal is that more than 9/10 people in the UK will have access to fibre-based products and services by 2020.

Highlights of 2013/14

We helped customers avoid carbon emissions by 1.3 times the end-to-end carbon impact of our business; reduced our own carbon emissions by 25.5 per cent; and generated £3.1 billion from products and services with carbon abatement benefits.
