Pearson publishes its 2011 corporate responsibility report

Pearson one of the world’s leading learning companies has published its latest corporate responsibility report, Our Impact on Society 2011. The report sets out the commitments made by Pearson over the last year and the actions being taking around the company.

Last year, Pearson set out a new framework for its corporate responsibility agenda:
1.    Pearson’s efforts start with the company strategy and purpose. The company is a commercial organisation with a social purpose: to help people make progress in their lives through learning. Pearson believes its commercial goals and social purpose are mutually reinforcing and that its financial strength provides the means for them to invest and innovate.
 
2.    Pearson’s focus is on three key issues of social and economic importance where Pearon believes it can make a unique contribution. These issues are literacy, learning outcomes and competitiveness.
 
3.    Beyond those three issues, Pearson have a wider agenda for responsible business practice that covers its interest in nurturing diversity, investment in community partnerships, supply chain management and environmental responsibility.
 
4.    Pearson recognises that its approach to responsible business is grounded in the company’s values, ethics and behaviour.
