For the consecutive seventh year Enel has published its Sustainability Report - this year more closely connected than ever to its Annual Report.

The report, at http://ethicalperformance.com/reports/links/enel-2008 follows the GRI-G3 guidelines as well as some of the brand new GRI EUSS (Electric Utilities Sector Supplement) indicators, which Enel, has been helping to develop with GRI over the past three years.

The report says that with the creation of Enel Green Power, dedicated to the development and management of energy generation from renewable sources at the international level, Enel will now be able 'to play a leading role in a market segment with an extremely high potential for growth even in periods, like the current one, when the economy slows down'.

With the acquisition in Russia of OGK-5, which took place in March 2008, and the signing in February 2009 of an agreement with Acciona, which marked the achievement of full control of Endesa, the report says Enel Group's international expansion has been successfully concluded - and that it can now concentrate fully on social and environmental matters material to its business.

Enel is now the second largest European electricity group, with, at the end of 2008, an installed capacity of 83.3 GW and 49.3 million customers in 22 countries on four continents.
