Standard Life plc today published its fourth Corporate Responsibility Report. The 2008 Report outlines the asset managing group’s progress over the last 12 months towards its stated goal of being “an outstanding corporate citizen in each of its communities by 2012”.

Based on independent research amongst key stakeholders, Standard Life’s CR approach in 2008 focussed on five material issues – Trust, Responsible investment, Health and wealth, Managing our people, and Community and environmental impacts.

Notable highlights from the 2008 report include:

• Improved rating, from Silver to Gold, in Business in the Community’s CR Index

• A 39 per cent increase in the number of students benefitting from Standard Life’s Step up in Life programme

• Significant reductions in both Standard Life’s global footprint and energy consumption

• The move to 100 per cent hydro-generated electricity for Standard Life’s UK operations from 1 April to 31 December 2008
