The Barclays Corporate Responsibility Report 2004

View Full Report

Barclays has given an account of its efforts to improve its consumer and corporate lending practices in its Corporate Responsibility Report for 2004, available from today in print and online.

This is just one example of how the scope of the Barclays report has been extended, compared with the bank's previous reports. The 2004 report also highlights how Barclays is seeking to treat customers fairly, provide products and services that promote financial inclusion, and uphold human rights.

Independently verified by SGS, the report goes on to cover the progress made by Barclays in its community investment programmes, and also on equality and diversity, supporting employees with HIV/AIDS, and managing its direct environmental impacts.

That progress has been recognized by a number of awards in the UK, including the 2004 National Business Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.

As well as recording achievements, the document outlines areas where Barclays knows it needs to work harder, for example in the areas of supply chain management, employee engagement and international operations.
