Burke and Winters join BITC Ireland

May 2014

Mary Rose Burke, director of business representation with Ibec and James Winters, plant manager for the DePuy Synthes Ireland Manufacturing Operation have been appointed board members of BITC Ireland.

Joining a 12 strong group of senior business leaders from across industry sectors, Burke and Winters bring a wealth of experience to the Business in the Community Ireland board.

Burke began her career as a pharmacist, establishing her own pharmacy business at the age of 26 which she later successfully sold. Prior to joining Ibec, her most recent role was as director of pharmacy with Boots Ireland, where she set the strategic direction for the business by establishing Boots Ireland’s CSR strategy. Her appointment continues BITCI’s long standing relationship with Ibec where Ms Burke plays a leading role in promoting responsible business by leading policy and communication and creating the corporate responsibility agenda.

Winters is responsible for leading and managing the DePuy Synthes Ireland Cork Manufacturing Operation. He holds a BTech in Electronic Manufacturing from the University of Limerick and an MBA from University College Cork and joined the DePuy Ireland Global Supply Chain team in 2005 taking overall plant management responsibility by 2010. He also held Vice Chair and Chair positions with the IMDA Operational Excellence group in 2010-2012 and has sat on the IMDA (Irish Medical Device Association) board since 2012.

Commenting on the appointments, Tina Roche, ceo, BITCI said: “We champion responsible business practices and central to all of our work is the willingness of business leaders to collaborate and to take individual action. Both Mary Rose Burke and James Winters have demonstrated a commitment to placing trust and values at the heart of their organisations for the long term and we look forward to working with them and the board to collectively drive a culture of responsibility.”
