Participation in Standard Chartered’s employee volunteering programme has increased by 315 per cent. The bank, which offers employees two days’ paid leave to volunteer every year, has been embedding volunteering into its staffing strategy, and runs a website helping employees to match their interests or skills to the needs of local community projects. The company says a recent employee survey revealed that three-quarters of volunteers felt volunteering had increased their job satisfaction.
