Levi Strauss offers money for old jeans

November 2010

Levi Strauss has created a $100,000 denim insulation fund to encourage the re-use of unwanted jean material as building insulation.

The fund will provide grants to community organizations to offset the cost difference between using conventional insulation and recycled denim.

The company used denim insulation when it recently renovated its headquarters, and donated more than 200,000 pairs of recycled jeans to the California Academy of Sciences for use in one of its newly reopened buildings.
