Compact offers a templateNovember 2010
Developing world companies have been provided with a ready-made document that should help them publicly report on how they are living up to the United Nations Global Compact.
The template ‘communication on progress’, or COP, is available in various languages and provides compact signatories with an easy way to comply with the requirement that they produce an annual COP.
The move is in response to Compact Office concerns that too many companies from the developing world are being de-listed because they have not produced adequate COPs.
Aside from the template, companies will also be offered basic training on implementation of the compact principles and on communicating progress. This will be offered through local compact networks.
At the same time, other companies that have already demonstrated they are communicating adequately will be offered an ‘advanced programme’ that will give recognition to those who – through their COP – ‘demonstrate the adoption of best practices’.
