Internet host name provider Go Daddy is to cease providing new domain name registrations in mainland China, after concerns about the ‘recent increase’ in the country’s monitoring of its citizens’ internet activities. Go Daddy, the world’s largest domain name provider, said it did not want to act as an agent of the Chinese government after surveillance requirements on websites were tightened.
