AA1000 revampers named

March 2010

The heads of CSR at a lottery operator and an Australian bank have been drafted on to a technical committee that will oversee a remake of the most commonly used standard on stakeholder engagement.

Anne Pattberg, head of corporate responsibility at UK national lottery firm Camelot, and Alison Ewings, group sustainability manager at Westpac bank, will be part of the 15-strong committee managing an overhaul of the AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard, known as AA1000SES, which will be republished later this year.

The UK-based think tank AccountAbility, which introduced AA1000SES in 2005, has appointed CSR specialists from a wide geographical and organizational range to serve on the committee.

Others include Santhosh Jayaram, head of sustainability at Det Norske Veritas, Dongsoo Kim, director of the Sustainability Management Centre in Korea, and Shikhar Jain, senior counsellor at the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The committee will oversee an 'open source' consultation on the revamp, whereby interested parties can post suggested changes on the web.
