Food sector CSR feels the pinchApril 2009
The global recession has pushed corporate responsibility down the priority list of the food industry.
A survey of 600 decision-makers in the in 54 countries shows that CSR, placed at number one last year, has fallen to third in 2009. This year’s most often stated priority was ‘the economy and consumer demand’, which ranked only fourth last year.
The Paris-based Food Business Forum, which commissioned the study, said that despite the drop in ranking, CSR’s place in third spot showed it ‘can survive in a global recession’.
