Diversity progress wins Asia Pacific award for BaxterMarch 2009
Baxter International, the US healthcare products company, has been honoured for its Building Talent Edge programme aimed at developing an equal male-female balance in company management and executive posts in its Asia Pacific operations.
Catalyst, a non-profit US consultancy promoting sex equality in business, gives the award annually for innovative organizational approaches to the recruitment, development and advancement of women.
Baxter took the 2009 award after a number of achievements in the Asia Pacific region. The proportion of women in its management and executive positions increased from 31 per cent in 2004 to 50 per cent in 2008, and four out of its 16 general managers are now women.
This is the second time Baxter has won the Catalyst Award but the first time the consultancy has recognized a company’s Asia Pacific efforts.
