Tate & Lyle announced last month that it will move its entire retail cane-sugar range to Fairtrade, marking the largest switch to the ethical labelling scheme by any major UK food or drink brand. In the first year alone, Tate & Lyle claims the decision will create a return of at least £2million ($4m) in Fairtrade premiums for cane farmers around the world.
