Enthusiastic delegates create alumni group

February 2008

An alumni group is to be started this month for executives who have completed a new training course on how to make ‘dramatic progress’ on sustainability.

Delegates who have been through the One Planet Leaders course run by WWF International  will continue discussions on new business models  through the alumni group. The course was introduced last year to encourage new thinking among corporate responsibility specialists.

Mandy Thomas, business training manager at WWF International in Geneva, said that WWF had seen the need for an alumni group but wanted the delegates themselves to be in control of the programme.

Bruce Haase, European CSR director at Canon Europe, who is one of four delegates setting up the group, said: ‘I’m the only person with a dedicated CSR function within Canon, which can be a little isolating. Having a network of sparring partners like this is extremely useful.’

Paul Turner, Lloyds TSB’s head of sustainability, said: ‘This should provide a mechanism to bounce ideas around.’
