Five new board trustees for ForumSeptember 2014
Sustainability charity Forum for the Future has taken on five new board trustees. Among them is a former Big Six energy boss, a broadcast journalist, a chartered accountant, a noted engineer and a former head of communications at Amnesty International.
Volker Beckers has built up more than 20 years’ senior experience within the utility industry and has a comprehensive knowledge of European energy markets. He was Group CEO, RWE Npower plc until the end of 2012 and prior to this, its Group CFO from 2003 to 2009. He is currently non-executive Director, HM Revenue & Customs.
Kelvyn Derrick has international business experience extending more than 40 years and was awarded the OBE for services to engineering and international trade in the 2009 New Year’s Honours List. Until 2007 he was the Chief Executive of Hamworthy plc, leading its transformation into an innovative technology company with international scope.
Lucy Siegle is a journalist specialising in environmental and social justice issues. She joined The Observer in 2000 and has been a columnist since 2004.
Fiona Thompson is a Chartered Accountant with a doctorate in politics and economics, and has been involved in the energy sector for her entire career, most recently focusing on power projects in Africa.
Anita Tiessen has worked in international development and human rights for more than two decades. She is currently the Deputy Executive Director for UNICEF UK, leading on the organisation’s communications, policy influencing and UK programmes work, including its work on climate change and sustainable development goals. Previously, she was Head of Communications at Amnesty International’s HQ.
