Businesses have been warned not to allow the current preoccupation with climate change to overshadow other pressing environmental and social issues. Writing in Business for Social Responsibility's first sustainability report, its chief executive Aaron Cramer says the focus on global warming, while welcome, could 'divert attention from other significant issues like water and human rights', increasing overall corporate responsibility risks. Cramer says there is also risk of 'climate fatigue or cynicism' if businesses find that their energy efficiency and carbon offsetting measures fail to have a significant impact.
