Domini moves into Asia

March 2007

Two socially responsible investment vehicles newly set up by Domini Social Investments are believed to be the first US-based ethical funds to concentrate on the Asia Pacific region.

The Domini PacAsia Social Equity Fund allows investors to ‘take part in a historic economic expansion, while helping to influence Asia-Pacific companies to consider society and the environment as they move into the future’.

The Domini EuroPacific Social Equity Fund invests in both Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Domini says this second fund offers a diversified portfolio allowing investors to encourage corporate responsibility.

Both funds will concentrate on mid- to large-capitalization stocks.

Amy Domini, the company’s founder and chief executive, said: ‘Dramatic economic growth in Asia has often been accompanied by pollution, deforestation, sweatshop labour and human rights violations. This is a region where conscious, responsible investing is needed and can really make a difference.’
