Banks are still making little or no effort to invest in the UK's social fabric, according to Michael Brophy, chief executive of the Charities Aid Foundation. In the annual lecture of the UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF), Brophy said that some individual bankers were making 'enormous efforts' informally, but 'the big banks haven't made any intervention of any significant nature yet into the social economy'.
