NatWest is on target to sell £2 million worth of community bonds by the end of the year, according to Andrew Robinson, head of the bank's community enterprise unit. Interest rates on money invested in the bonds are lower than the market rate, with the difference between the two used to fund community investment in deprived areas. Launched in March, the bond is being marketed as the first such investment vehicle offered by a leading high street bank (see EP1, 1999).
