Only around one in three UK-listed companies fully complies with the country’s combined code on corporate governance.
An annual review of corporate governance by Pensions and Investment Research Consultants has found that ten per cent of companies have a combined chairman and chief executive, contrary to the code’s stipulations, and that 73 per cent of boards’ independent non-executives are in the minority, even though the code proposes at least half of the board be independent.
