ethical funds drop in numberMay 2003
The number of UK ethical funds has dropped for the first time since records began in 1996.
There were 62 funds in March 2002 but only 57 by the following December, according to the Ethical Investment Research Service, which said the fall was due to general market conditions and ‘investors rationalizing their ranges’ as the SRI niche fund market matures. Eiris has been collating the data since at least December 1988, when it found 18 ethical funds, and relies on fund managers to provide the information. It stresses the figures are approximate.
