Belgian fund moves to SRIFebruary 2003
A government investment fund in Belgium has switched to a socially responsible investment approach.
The €400million ($427m, £264m) Flemish Care Fund, which is run by the government of Flanders to help pay the residential care costs of ageing citizens, will select from the 200 companies listed on Brussels-based Ethibel’s investment register of businesses that score well on measures of ‘sustainable entrepreneurship’.
Around 90 per cent of the fund is held in corporate bonds with ten per cent in equities.
