fund manager suspends BP

February 2003

BP has been suspended from the portfolio of retail socially responsible investment funds managed by Henderson Global Investors due to ‘continuing safety problems’ in its Alaska operations.

Henderson said it had talked to BP about the problems, which recently resulted in the death of one person and serious injury to another, and was satisfied they were being addressed. The fund manager said it had resolved to suspend investment ‘while we wait and see what happens’.
