French pull out of SiRi groupJuly 2002
The French socially responsible investment analysts Arese have relinquished their role as one of 12 partners in a worldwide SRI research service that began operating last year.
Arese has given no reason for its decision to leave the Sustainable Investment Research International (SiRi) group, which gathers data on the social and environmental performance of companies around the world (EP3, issue 4).
Arese, which left ‘by mutual agreement,’ provided analysis of companies in France for SiRi. That work will now be taken on jointly by a Swiss firm, CentreInfo, and a Belgian firm, Stock at Stake, which together have 25 French-speaking SRI research staff.
Stock at Stake was set up by Ethibel, which compiles and updates a register of companies for use by ethical funds.
Clients of the SiRi group include some of the largest asset managers, insurance companies, banks and social investment institutions in the world. They use information pooled by the partners to make investment decisions.
