Triodos tries matchmakingAugust 1999
A new introductory service has been launched to link UK social and environmental businesses which lack capital, with interested investors.
The matching service, created by the UK arm of Triodos Bank, aims to put ethical investors directly in touch with businesses that interest them. Investment details and the nature of involvement in the company can then be agreed between the business and the investor.
Called ‘Triodos Match’, the confidential service will feature enterprises vetted by the bank that wish to raise between £20,000 and £1 million.
Triodos managing director Glen Saunders said the service hoped to fill an ‘information gap’.
‘The strong growth of the social economy in recent years has created a need for a service like this,’ he said.
Registration for investors will be free in 1999; the fee for businesses is £350 plus VAT. Triodos will also charge 2.5 per cent commission on any sum invested as a result of the service.
Triodos Bank also operates in The Netherlands and Belgium.
